After two sold-out seasons, this third and final session of the Sunset Club will joyously bring to a close a series that has looked at the music of Brazil through the eyes and hearts of two of Australia’s most accomplished and respected artists in this field. And there’s a few stories left, yet!
Music made for dancing, celebration and the telling of a nation’s story, Nordestino features songs from Brazil’s northeast, entwined with a little samba and home-grown baiao, and the continuing Brazilian adventures of Anje and Kym, who’ve made this music their life’s work.
Presented by The View From Madeleine’s Couch, the show celebrates the band’s influences, and pays homage to some of Brazil’s most beloved artists, including Gilberto Gil, Caetano Veloso, Joyce Moreno, Maria Bethania, and Timbalada.
The Band is: Anje West, voice, percussion | Kym Ambrose, vibraphone, percussion | Owen Newcomb, bass, voice, percussion and featuring special guests Lucia Medeiros (voice), and Eddie Gazani (guitar).
