Playing out the many possibilities of the single moment when eyes meet, desires peak and you make a move, ‘Plunge’ examines the short and long term impacts of romantic advances that are reciprocated, rejected or unrequited.

Following the success of their 2014 show ‘No One Likes Me’, Devize Co. teams up with two emerging talents Jean Goodwin and Joel Fenton to bring this tale of love and what might have been to the Frankston Anywhere Festival from August 27th.

‘Plunge’ is an original physical theatre work merging contemporary dance with narrative and text to explore themes of touch, lust, love, pleasure and displeasure. Depicted through the eyes of young adults as they explore the uncertain world of romance, the work draws on the unusual world of string theory, and parallel universes to encapsulate the many outcomes of a single romantic gesture.

After a career spanning over twenty years as a dancer and actor Darren Vizer turns his creative talents to directing and choreographing dancer Joel Fenton (Australia’s Got Talent, Grand Finalist 2012) and actor Jean Goodwin (ANZACs Victoria’s road to remembrance) in this stunning piece of physical storytelling.

‘Plunge’ was initially developed under the title ‘Blending’ for the La Mama Explorations Season in 2014 with support from The Space Dance and Arts Centre. The work has since been presented in an empty shop front in Frankston as part of the 2015 Frankston Anywhere Festival and will make its full Melbourne debut at the Melbourne Fringe Hub.

‘An evocative piece of work’ – Theatre Press

‘Vizer slips between dance and storytelling with ease, but it is his control and physicality that is the most profound.’- Aussie Theatre (on ‘No One Likes Me’)
