The Travelling Sisters

Nominees Best Newcomer - Melbourne International Comedy Festival

Cult hit The Travelling Sisters serve up a gang of tragically charming misfits.

A side-splitting, red hot hour of ‘infectious silliness, impish cheek and harmonious musicality’ (The Scotsman), the trio create ‘a distinctly otherworldly vibe’ (The List).

Made up of a cavalcade of characters, physical comedy and surreal songs, The Travelling Sisters are a bloody good time.

Nominated – Best Newcomer at the Melbourne International Comedy Festival.

Sold out season – Melbourne International Comedy Festival

The Guardian’s Pick of the Edinburgh Fringe 2016

“★★★★★ The Travelling Sisters are insane geniuses of sketch comedy”  Great Scott

★★★★ “Damn, these girls got soul. Or funk. Whatever you call that indefinable alchemy that means their sheer presence exudes fun and sass”  Chortle

“★★★★  Hilarious and well crafted… These women shine” Funny Women

“★★★★ Their antics would sit comfortably alongside anything from The Mighty Boosh” The Advertiser

Having recently returned from touring abroad, The Travelling Sisters performed at Edinburgh Fringe Festival two years running where they were named as one of The Guardian’s Picks of The Fringe in 2016.

They were also regional finalists in the Funny Women UK Stage Awards. Their time overseas has seen them play to audiences in London and Berlin, Prague Fringe Festival, Bedford Fringe Festival, Glastonbury Festival, Bath Comedy Festival, Clockenflap Festival Hong Kong and then back home at Woodford Folk Festival, Perth Fringe World, Adelaide Fringe Festival and the Melbourne International Comedy Festival.

Please note that the venue is best accessed via Fish Lane. This is also wheelchair accessible. There will also be food available and a bar.

  1. I can’t believe this show still has tickets- sold out in Melbourne and rave reviews across the globe. Brisbane’s turn for a rare treat of non stop fun and laughter with little twists and turns that take you to unexpected endings. Very clever, very funny and completely crazy. Don’t miss this one.

  2. So funny 🙂

These girls are hilarious. And clever. And amazing. You’ll be crazy to miss their show!!

  3. A titillating, zany night out with The Travelling Sisters

What a great start to the 2017 Anywhere Theatre Festival with The Travelling Sisters offering up a raw, warts and all plethora of zany characters in even stranger situations.

Brisbane trio Lucy Fox, Laura Trenerry & Ell Sachs offer up a cohesive variety of sketches and songs, introducing us to unlikely mullet-haired ice-skating lads, trailer-park lovers and a rather large lady who’s pretty handy with a guitar.

Scene changes, including titillating costume changes, were performed in full view of the audience – all in the best possible taste. The show is interactive with the audience singing along and passing imaginary pancakes along the rows, every sketch eliciting laughs and appropriate responses from the enthusiastic crowd. In a nutshell, we had a great time riding along with The Travelling Sisters on their caravan of crazy.

The venue, Five Sisters Café, is tucked away behind a Victorian red brick cottage at 141 Melbourne St, South Brisbane (or via Fish Lane which made entering the venue a little confusing). It’s an intimate venue and at capacity on opening night. A full bar and café service, plus a pop-up taverna, offer food and drinks before and after the show.

I highly recommend you get along to The Travelling Sisters. They did mention they’re working on a new show so don’t miss the opportunity to meet this batch of madcap characters before they hit the road for good.

  4. Outstanding

Wet to the show on Sat night , 6/5 , wow those girls are talented . Very funny and what a great act , well worth seeing. I have booked tickets for my daughters to see it on the 19th . they will love it as much as we did. Graham & Jen . Cheers big ears

  5. Belly laughs and brilliant characters from three of Brisbane's own

Packing West End’s Five Sisters with sell out audiences, Brisbane’s own Travelling Sisters have returned to their old stomping ground, armed to the teeth with a collection of madcap characters, hilarious songs, and outlandish sketches. It’s Flight of the Conchords meets Monty Python meets a trio of dancing potatoes, and it is, quite frankly, glorious.

    Who says women aren’t funny?

From inviting the audience to play a game of Pass the Pancake, to costume changes set to songs you’ll be humming for days, to the most awkward stand up routine outside of an open mic night, The Travelling Sisters have pulled together an outstanding show.

Expect a wild ride through the night, with just one question left hanging in the air: what the hell happened in 1982?

The trio, comprising Lucy Fox, Laura Trenerry, and Ell Sachs, has performed around the world, including stints at the Melbourne International Comedy Festival, Glastonbury, and the Edinburgh Fringe.
With credentials like that, don’t miss this chance to see them in the intimate surrounds of Five Sisters this Anywhere Festival!

  6. Holy Moley

Holy Moley! This act is surreal, absurd and totally hilarious. The ticket price is a steal- you have to check it out.
